As we go through our spiritual journey it’s possible to stumble upon a desert where we experience dryness in our spiritual lives. When that happens we look or wait for the opportunity to be refreshed by the Spirit of God. That could probably be found during a worship service, a prayer meeting, worship night, or a conference. And as we get filled with the Spirit, like a car gets filled with gas, we are able to continue on our journey.

It’s great to receive a refreshing and infilling of the Holy Spirit as Acts 4:31 and Acts 9:17 would suggest, just to name a few. But if we are just dependent on these verses and the others that suggest the same it’s possible that we might begin to treat the Holy Spirit like a gas pump. But I believe that the Holy Spirit is more than a gas pump, He’s the air that we breathe. Romans 8:3-5 tells us that we are to live according to the Spirit and not the flesh. And the more we are immersed in the Spirit of God the greater the influence of the Spirit in every area of our lives. It goes beyond intervals of spiritual experiences and happens every single hour of every single day as we put our faith in Christ and depend on the Holy Spirit. Apart from the Spirit of God it’s impossible to live a life a that would honor and glorify God.
