Capitalizing on Your Advantage

You may not be a fan of LeBron James but you gotta respect and admire his game on both ends of the floor. I think one of the major factors that led the Miami Heat to a 4-1 series win over the OKC Thunder was how they capitalized on their advantages. LeBron and Wade are the biggest threats to any team and whenever they were doubled they would pass it out to an open Mike Miller (Watch here) or Shane Battier and hit from downtown. LeBron may be one of the best basketball players on the planet but it’s impossible to win a championship on his own. I believed he realized that and took advantage of the defensive plays of his opponents. LeBron’s 13 assists leading to a triple double in game 5 of the NBA finals showcases his ability to find his teammates and give them opportunity to make a bucket.

Allow me to shift gears with that thought in mind and share with you how we are not alone when it comes to fulfilling our purposes and living a victorious kind of life. Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit and it is through the Holy Spirit that is living in us that we can accomplish great things for the name of Christ. The question is do we acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit even if He does live in us? Or do we neglect the help of Holy Spirit and think we can move to greater heights on our own?

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

John 14:16-17

Reality is apart from the Spirit of God we are very limited because we are after all finite beings. But with the help of the Holy Spirit we are empowered to move beyond our comforts and champion the purposes of God.
