Happy to Serve

When my family and I started attending Victory in Alabang, the first ministry that I was a part of was the ushering ministry. Then when we started the youth service back in 2001, I was the one heading up the ushering ministry since I was the only usher. It wasn’t that big of a task ushering a group of 30-40 students. We didn’t use chairs back then since the floor was carpeted, so that was a plus. Although, I had to give out the envelopes for tithes and offering one by one and then collect them after using the tithes bag. It was pretty easy that anyone could actually do what I did, I just chose to serve because more than serving the people in church I was serving a loving and compassionate God.

During my days as a student I was a volunteer at our youth service, which fueled my passion for young people and youth ministry. It is one of the reasons why I’m currently a full-time minister to the youth. Being a volunteer in church has also helped me build friendships and relationships. My fellow campus missionary, Francis Villanueva, and I were both serving in the youth and we were also volunteers in the same KIDS ministry team.

Being a volunteer in church and serving in a certain capacity in a specific ministry is really an overflow of your relationship with Christ. His love, His goodness, His grace, His faithfulness causes me to express my thanks and gratefulness by serving His church.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45
